Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Limited, the city-based public sector undertaking, has got the Union cabinet’s approval for need-based sale of surplus land.
Bengal Chemicals is one of the four pharma PSUs – the other three are Hindustan Antibiotics, Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals and Rajasthan Drugs and Pharmaceuticals – where the cabinet has okayed the sale of surplus land.
The move to permit PSUs to sell surplus assets and improve balance sheets is a precursor to a future stake sale by the Centre in some of these companies.
