The Andhra Pradesh government’s grand plans to turn the temple town of Tirupati into a greater civic body made headway on Tuesday as the decision to implement land pooling scheme (LPS) in areas that fall under the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) was taken.
The state government issued directives framing rules for the LPS in Tirupati. With many industrial units coming in Chittoor district and scarcity of land parcels, the LPS may come handy for the government. “Now the jurisdiction of TUDA will extend,“ said an official.Earlier, the government dropped enough hints that it would expand the TUDA jurisdiction to include Srikalahasti, Chandragiri and Yerpedu. However, the government did not give details of the land pooling scheme and the methods to be adopted in the temple town. The government also issued orders to implement land pooling scheme in Vizag Urban Authority.
